Hi everyone!

I'm writing because I really need your prayers. I don't know how many of you are aware that I have been planning on going to Kenya this summer with a group of adults and college students from my church. We will be building a house for a widow who lost her husband to AIDS. I know that this trip is going to be an amazing experience and that it's really going to strengthen and stretch me. I've sent out about 20 letters to church members and am trying to find ways to raise the money because the trip costs $3,500. The leader and one of the pastors at my church just emailed me saying he didn't know what to do because I only have $640 in my account and only 1 of the 20 people I wrote to has sent in money on my behalf. When I first signed up for this trip I knew I couldn't afford it, but my pastor assured me that if I was diligent in fundraising that everything would be ok because in the past the church has been able to help pay for this as well. Unfortunately his email said that as of now, the church doesn't have any extra money that they can help me with. He's praying for me but doesn't know what to do. He needs to buy the plane tickets this week and doesn't know what to do because as of right now there is not enough money for my ticket. I'm emailing all of you because I need your prayers. Pray that God would somehow provide the money necessary for me to go on this trip. My friend and I are planning a garage sale on Saturday to help raise more money, so pray that that goes well, pray that the people I wrote letters to would choose to support me financially, and pray that somehow I would figure out another way to raise money. Unfortunately this all has to happen pretty fast because he needs to buy the tickets soon. If any of you might choose to support me, you can send a check made out to Shelter Rock Church, just don't write my name in the memo just write “Kenya Summer Missions Donation” that way the donation is completely tax-deductible. If any of you know of people that might want to support me, I could send them information about the trip and more details about what I'm doing there. I just don't know what to do anymore, and I would feel badly backing out of the trip after already asking people for money and having them support me. Please be praying for me! Thank you all so much!

How to Lock Your Car and Why
I locked my car --- as I walked away I heard my car door unlock I went back and locked my car again three times. I looked around and there were two guys sitting in a car in the fire lane next to the store. When I looked straight at them they did not unlock my car again.
How to lock your car safely -
While traveling, my son stopped at a roadside park. He came out to his car less than 4-5 minutes later and found someone had gotten into his car, and stolen his cell phone, laptop computer, GPS navigator briefcase.....you name it...
He called the police and since there were no signs of his car being broken into - the police told him that there is a device that robbers are using now to clone your security code when you lock your doors on your car using your key-chain locking device..

They sit a distance away and watch for their next victim. They know you are going inside of the store, restaurant, or bathroom and have a few minutes to steal and run.

The police officer said to manually lock your car door-by hitting the lock button inside the car, that way if there is someone siting in a parking lot watching for their next victim it will not be you.

When you hit the lock button on your car upon exiting....it does not send the security code, but if you walk away and use the door lock on your key chain - it sends the code through the airwaves where it can be stolen. Something totally new to us...and real.
Be aware of this and please pass this note20on...look how many times we all lock our doors with our remote...just to be sure we remembered to lock them.....and bingo someone has our code...and whatever was in the car...can be stolen.
Snopes Approved. Please share with everyone you know... Good information!!!
Well, I think that I have just made the toughest decision I could've made right now. I've decided to leave Belmont and attend Oklahoma State Univ. to finish out my Bachelor's degree. :( With my health being the way it is, its better for me to be close to home. I know this is the right choice for me right now and i'm really sad :(

I have made some of the most amazing friends at Belmont though and I am going to miss you all terribly!!!!!!! We will def need to keep in contact and I will be visiting frequently :) Christa, Lyns, Meredith, Kristen, Sarah-You all are AMAZING roommates.. Honestly, you made my time at Belmont just that much better-I love you all so much!!! Nashville is def a second home to me and I plan on moving back there after I graduate OSU! So i'll be back soon! YAY! :)

Thank you all for making my experience at Belmont great! I'm going to miss you! I LOVE YOU ALL!!
So basically, this is a weekly little blog about what you should listen to. Drop that scene crap, this is real metal. I'm going to be adding links to download this albums as condensed files so everyone can enjoy.

This weeks lesson is in a breed of metal that is more or less thought to have died in the early 90s according to the mainstream. In the slew of crap that's been spewing out of crap ass record labels that are labeled "Death Metal" there are jewels in the rough. There is no tight jeans, combovers or karate kicks.

Augury - Concealed (2008)
In my eyes music needs to have a story and if cosmic obliteration is your kind of book than this band is right for you. Augury is a different breed of death metal altogether. Mixing tradition death with folk, operatic female vocals, a lot of epic guitar solos, black metal highs and gore metal lows. This band's songs all have very interesting compositions and instrumental virtuosity (which is almost a norm in modern DM)

Severed Savior - Servile Insurrection (2008)
DMD showed me these guys and I am very happy he did. They are straight death metal with many Suffo-esque riffs and adding a bit of slam. The most interesting part of it is their occasional jazz-fusion outros and bridges. (almost obviously inspired by the almighty Cynic) Check them out. Good for fans looking to get away from the -core.

Cannibal Corpse - Evisceration Plague (2009)
Yes. They are back. Back to killing zombies, back to destroying human kind as we know it, back to eviscerating your body through sound waves. I don't care if you always said "ooohh Cannibal Corpse is stupid and boring" . Fuck off.

Emeth - Telesis (2008)
Very Brutal. Very Fast. Very Heavy. A fuckin' must for anyone who likes to kill small defenseless creatures and a love for some ridiculous talent.

The Project Hate MCMXCIX - Armageddon March Eternal (Symphonies of Slit Wrists) (2005)
As you can tell I am a sucker for brutal death metal with a nice hint of influences from outside DM. These guys are slightly similar to Augury except replace the folk influence and guitar solos with catchier leads, sound samples, and even occasional techno/electronica influences. The vocals are almost shared between clean angelic female vocals and demon-like death metal growls. Plus a nice hint of Satanism.

Gojira - The Ways of All Flesh (2008)
These guys fuckin' rock and their new cd is arguably their best (well maybe second haha). The songs all revolve around natural aspects of the Earth and are not the stereotypical sound you think when we say Death Metal. Alot of spacey feeling riffs with a constant thundering of double bass. If you like really sick lyric writing and a sense of a greater existence through Nature these guys are where its at.

Napalm Death - Time Waits For No Slave (2008)
ND has never made a bad cd. EVER. This is no different. Even Barney tries more things on the mic than ever before. A lot of Punk inspired songs with riffs that come from the masters of catchy brutality. One of my favorite bands in the entire world.

Suffocation - Suffocation (2006)
Frank Mullen is my hero. No one shall surpass the brutality that Suffocation stands for. If you don't know who they are. BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF.

I give in. I'm doing one too.

1. I am so dang proud to be from the lone star state (Hook 'Em), but I think I've found my true home in Tennessee. :)
2. There is nothing better to me than going to see a movie in the theater, eating popcorn and reeses pieces (yep, together), and drinking a large Dr. Pepper.
3. I would rather watch old TV shows on DVD's (like Friends) than current shows.
4. My absolute biggest pet peeve is when people hiccup (I know it's something you can't help, but whatever!)
5. When I was in first grade, my grandmother accidentally poked me in the eye while brushing my hair...years later after not thinking anything about it and swimming in dirty lakes, I started having serious vision problems....an opthamologist told me I was legally blind in that eye and so I had to have a cornea transplant when I was in 7th grade.
6. I played golf all 4 years of high school and my first year of college....and placed 7th at Regionals 2 years in a row in high school.
7. I thank God for friends & a church family who believe in the power of the Holy Spirit.
8. I'm considering going to grad school and getting a Masters in Special Education.
9. Two years ago, God performed a miracle on my little brother Zach twice in one week. The first time, he flipped a four-wheeler which landed on top of him...he lost a kidney and had a cracked rib...that was it. The second time, the doctors wrote a prescription that was WAY too much and he overdosed on his medicine. I watched him dying on the living room floor and there was nothing any of us could do about it. BUT, God stepped in and saved his life. When my family and our neighbors started calling heaven down into our living room, Zach started breathing on his own. He's a walking miracle. Thank You, Lord!
10. I'm kind of obsessed with Victoria's Secret Slice of Heaven lipgloss.
11. I admit. I like watching Hannah Montana.
12. I'm interning at the Gospel Music Association. I'm in charge of getting 150 volunteers for GMA Music Week and then directing them the entire week....I'm a little terrified, but really excited too!
13. I just got bangs and I love them.
14. I cannot sleep without a fan because I love the noise!
15. I'm reading Mandisa's book, IdolEyes, and I admire her so much. She's such a beautiful person inside and out!
16. My dad grew up with Tracy Lawrence.
17. I have found a new love - Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate from Starbucks.
18. I have a love/hate relationship with exercising.
19. I got to go to the 2005 U.S. Open in Pinehurst, NC and followed around Adam Scott the entire time just because I think he's cute...and he looked at me and smiled. Huh Victoria? :)
20. My mom has been clean from drugs & alcohol for 10 years!
21. I miss Tex-Mex SOOOO much. Thank God Nashville has an El Chico at least!
22. I'd rather text than talk on the phone.
23. I could shop in Target for hours and hours.
